Do you think a Bed and Breakfast would be a good idea in Morristown, NJ? By the way, I am a realtor and
really would like your opinion.

I believe it is a great idea but very dificult to get approvals. Our office had the perfect location and upon further investigation was unable to pursue. Fri May 16 2008, 10:07

I think it could work if you spun it the right way. I grew up in Morristown. My parents now are in Hunterdon County so I am back there quite often. Since there are a lot of historical parts of Morristown, you could draw in a tourist crowd as well as the business travellers who want an alternative to the big hotels. There are so many beautiful old homes there I think it would be a great idea. One thing you might consider is having a meeting space for business people or retreats. There is a B&B in Hunterdon County that did that.

I spend about 5-7 nights per year at the Hyatt in Morristown. I spend time in town, at the movies, and know most of the restaurants, and the wine store. The movie theater next to the Hyatt is always empty....but also one of the reasons I like it there. The restaurants are quite busy and I have a few favorites.
If there were a bed and breakfast, I might look into it as an alternate. Most of the B&B's in Jersey are along the shore, with many in Cape May, and a string in Ocean Gove, Asbury and the Highlands. Inland, there are a few in Frenchtown and Flemington. Other than that, I don’t know of any inland locations. Oh, and the one in Long Branch is near the shore, but not on the shore. BTW, I ended up at the movies because Hyatt kept having free movie passes with their package.
