No matter what you are looking for, a car, a remodel or a Realtor, remember the old addage of comparing apples to apples. So, you really need to be considering the neighborhoods, the marketing tools the experience and the motivation when interviewing Real Esate Brokers. Number of sales can really cloud the issue. There are some agents that work totally by themselves and then there are agents that have assistants, listing agents, buyer's agents and office help and all of the sales closed are reported under the the name of the Team Leader. The best advice I can give is get referrals. The majority of my business comes from past clients and their referrals of new clients to me.
Jryan,
If you are interested in listing, the below info on interviewing may be of some help. Good luck.

I think you'd really want to know which had the highest percentage of sales. Someone with 100 listings who sold 20 really wouldn't be a better agent for a seller than someone who had 15 listings and sold 10.

I think you should qualify your request a little. The Realtors who've sold the most homes are working with new homes, bank owned properties and/or short sales. Does your property fit in any of those categories? I'm constantly amazed how difficult people try to make the agent selection process. There is no full-proof formula for picking the right agent. The bottom line is - you don't want to work with anyone you don't like or feel you can't trust. Talk with a friend who's used a Realtor recently and ask for a referral. That's all you need to do. Listing presentations can be misleading. Base your choice on true results demonstrated to someone you know and trust. This is always the best way to find a good professional.
