We want to sell our house within the next few months, as we are moving abroad and want to know how long we can wait before putting it on the market. By the way, it's a nicely updated home - 3 bed, 1 bath. Also, with the present market conditions, has our home even held the value over the past 5 years since we bought it? (purchase price was $60,000)
Thanks for any advice!
Susan,
Now is the time! Housing prices continue to go backwards, if it's in move in condition, do it today.
Susan,
There are many factors that determine if or when a home will sell. There are two major factors that prevail over the rest, Price and Condition. You have already stated that your home has been "Nicely updated", so this takes care of Condition. The next major issue is the price. I recommend that you find an experienced agent that will be honest with you about pricing your home to sale. Being in a declining market and with only a few months to sell, this issue is critical. Price your home right and this should reduce the stress of moving. Give me a call and I will be happy to send you a free home evaluation. We are here to help.

The average listing sold in Mayfair took 88 days (from 10/01/2008 till today). The sooner you sell, the better. Values will continue to decline throughtout this year. Sandy Blanton, C.R.S.
Hi Susan,
I have bought and sold in Mayfair in the past few years. If you want, send me an email with your home address and I will take a look at what your home might be worth right now. There are sections of Mayfair that have been rehabbed in the last five years, and others that have not, so it will depend on where your home is located and what updates you have completed. I look forward to hearing from you!
