The short sale has not been approved by the bank yet

Your bigger concern may be the bank. When they find out you cancelled the contract they may come after you in the way of a foreclosure. Fast.

You have TWO problems, at least.
With the amount of information you've given; we couldn't possibly advise you.
Talk to your Listing Agent.

Hi Rouge

If you are in contract you should be talking to your Agent or Lawyer
who is representing you.

Nothing prevents you from back in to your home.

But its unlikely that you can cancel the contract.

You likely can refuse to negotiate further with the bank as things progress
and eventually foreclose or do a loan modification.

It all depends on your circumstance.

Good luck.
