Can a home be listed with a realtor if an auction date, time & bid amount has already been set?

Hi! Thanks for your inquiry. Yes. A home can be listed up until the auction or foreclosure as the owner still has rights. The court will likely enter a final judgment amount, which would include the amount left on the loan,
interest, fees and other costs.

However Florida Statute allows foreclosed homeowners to redeem their property. At any time before or after the auction, up until that Certificate of Sale is issued, a foreclosed homeowner can pay the final judgment amount and redeem the property, which voids the auction sale.

The short answer is, "It Depends". In theory, you should have time to stop the auction sale if the bank is willing to let you do a short sale. The only problem is that, more than likely, they have already been dealing with your file for some time and are not willing to let you do a short sale. I would be more than happy to speak with you about your specific situation. I wish I could answer the question fully, but every scenario is different and the details matter.

It sounds like you have litte time left before your auction date. You can still short sale your home. My advice is stop waiting and enlist a realtor who can help you list your home and obtain a buyer. Why would you go into foreclosure when you can short sale your property? You are not saying when the auction date is.

Hi Curious Seller,

Yes. You can list your house for sale up until the Auction date. Let your lender(s) know and see if they will postpone the Auction (it doesn't hurt to ask). Make sure you let your Realtor know an Auction date has been scheduled!
