Can I pay a referral fee to an agent in other state such as NY?

That is a question for your state licensing authority. Some states allow a commission split with out-of-state agents whereas other states do not. A quick call to your licensing board will answer that question for your state.

My advice is to offer to split whatever you get with your client to ensure they don't burn you. I have a big referral business. Some money is better than no money.

Yes. It is done all the time between brokers. If you would like to refer any buyers to me in Tampa, FL, I'll be more than happy to pay you a referral fee!

Yes you can! Just ensure that their license is up to date and that they are with a broker as you have to send the commision to the broker and not to the licensee.
