Can I go back to a contractor 10 years later to have them fix a plumbing problem? They ran the water pipes

for the second story bathroom along the outside wall. The first year, we had the plumber come back and he said to hang a light bulb on the pipe so it didn't freeze. Since then we have been dripping the water when the temps reach about 14 or below. We have talked to two real estate agents over the past few months and they suggest we try and fix this issue before putting the house on the market.

I have this exact problem! My contractor put the pipes on an outside wall for an addition 3 years ago. They have been out to my home 3 different times to thaw out my pipes and tried to charge me $1,000. bettween them. We keep arguing about who's responsibility it is. You are probably not going to get too far, but it doesn't hurt to ask, like Marian said.

Tracy,
I spent over 20 years as a contractor and if someone came to me even 10 years back to repair an issue like yours, I would fix it. However, I think the law would be on their side. The best think to do is go face to face, be polite, but firm and professionally recommend that they take care of it. Best of Luck
