Hi Trish- You might want to try Foremost- they are the carrier. They are pretty good with "alternative" properties- that the big national carriers won't touch.

If I can help in any other way, please let me know. Thanks, and good luck,

actually, the major carriers will decline a home built on piers so I need a specific regional carrier that will not upfront decline my application.

Hi Trish,

I'm not an insurance guy, but I have been a Realtor/Broker in NH for 20+ years. I don't think piles or piers is really the issue, either would be fine IF YOU HAVE A HOUSE.

Insurance companies are sketchy about modular homes and mobile homes that are set on piles or piers (usually these are cement blocks and gravity keeps the house from falling off onto the ground. Often these homes are "tied down" with cables and earth screws so they don't blow away.

If you are discussing homes that are "stick built" on piles set into the ground (like telephone poles) or on piers (think cement posts or mortered cement blocks on a poured foundation) you will have no problem getting insurance--unless the house is in a flood zone or on the beach.

Hope this helps,
