Check out a website like - you submit information on the property you want to insure and get multiple quotes. I find that my client's quotes can vary dramtically from provider to provider - this way you get several competetive quotes.

Contact an insurance agent Trulia is a professional website for real estate questions.

Insurance is based on many factors, year built, structure, content of personal items, discounted if you have multi cars, furs, art, much more

Denise - Although I can't quote you exactly seeing that I am not an insurance agent nor have you indicated the age of the home, location, any hard features that the home has (i.e. hurricane shutters) but I would say that you would be looking roughly at a yearly premium of $1,000-$1,300. Make sure your policy has a wind provision and I am not sure if you are in a flood zone area or not. If you are and depending on the elevation of your home you would also need to bear the expense of flood insurance. Some folks think that HomeOwner's includes flood, it does not. So check with your lender (if you are using one) to determine if the house is in a special flood hazard area, or you can check for flood zones by visiting the Charlotte County Property Appraisers website at or visit the GIS website at

Flood insurance can run you $400 on up per year.

Try the following website for insurance information:

It's a great website that posts rates and names of companies in your location. Please let us know if you require any additional information about specific homes, the buying process, insurance, etc. We would be happy to help.

Hi, Denise,
There are many variables with the cost of homeowner's insurance...age of home, type of roof line, size, construction, location, pool (or not)...and more. Please give me a call. I'd be glad to refer you to an insurance company who could quote you on cost.
