Lorraine:

Because it is a condo, the Insurance is paid as part of your HOA (Home Owners Association) monthly fee. You are only responsible for insuring the inside of the condo (personal property).

I just received a brochure from a new company beginning to insure in Florida, you may compare their prices to others. People's Trust - http://www.peoplestrustinsurance.com
Langston Insurance of Kissimmee is a local Insurance Broker who represents several companies. - Carmen Perez at 407-933-5944
The State has created an insurance of last resort called Citizens, here is the link https://www.citizensfla.com/.
Once the site opens, on the right side under "Policyholders" there are links to "Shop and Compare" and for "Look for an agent".

Because we are approaching Hurricane season, if a Hurricane gets close to Florida all companies "Freeze" selling policies, so it's important you get this taken care as early as possible.

Important - A loan on a condo unit will not be allowed if the HOA is more than 15% in default. If that is the case your only option will be to purchase the unit cash.

Hope this helps.
