Does standard homeowner's insurance or other type of insurance cover a structural failure of a home?

I have recently had a home inspected by an engineer. He stated that he could not make a for sure statement as to the soundness of part of the structure because he could not view particular components/supports. If a structural failure takes place after I purchase the home, would there be an insurance that would cover this? or would I be totally out of my property investmnet?

What is the peril or cause of loss that creates the structural failure? I can tell u their is no generic structural failure. Need more info in other words. If u r concerned that the structure may fail because of the age of the support system I can tell u no matter what state u r in no insurance company is going to provide coverage. I have been an insurance agent in CA for over 12 years. I do applaud u for getting a structural engineer. In Ca earth movement is never covered. If we are talking about a sloping issue insurance can be difficult to place because while earth movement is excluded for your structure the damage it can cause to another structure is not excluded from liability. In CA again... Hope I have helped....And yes, ask an experienced insurance agent.
