We are selling our house in SC due to a job transfer. We need to move before the house gets sold. Our agent told us that all we need to do is to notify the insurance. But our current home insurance at the Travelers tells us that they will not insure a vacant home. I am surprised to hear this. How are those vacant homes on the market insured? Please help!
We specialize in vacant homes even while being rehabbed. Give us a call or visit our website. 888-GET-GLIGA or http://www.getgliga.com.
consider staging as a way to increase a home's value as well as use automatic timed light fixtures for safety
Kay:
To be honest, there's a possibility that most of those vacant homes on the market AREN'T INSURED PROPERLY! However, just because other people jump off the bridge, doesn't mean that Kay should jump.
I would ask your real estate agent to assist in finding an Insurance Broker that will insure your home.
That's not much of an answer to your question. However, all I'm worried about is Kay!
Happy Holidays!

vacant home insurance is available. You may have to search for a company that will do it in your area. Homeowners insurance will not cover vacant homes because as soon as the home is vacant the exposure of something happening ie vandalism, break in, etc. is greatly increased.
There are companies that specialize in vacant home insurance. Foremost is one that I know of but I am not sure if they are admitted in your state.
you should easily be able to find a company online.
Best of luck and happy holidays.
