Shawree:
I'm a Realtor located right in West Reading, and we help buyers purchase homes throughout Berks County, including Birdsboro. Whenever clients ask me to recommend a school district or tell them a "good" place to live, I show them where they can find the resources to research this information for themselves, because as you've already heard, it is actually against the law for a real estate professional to steer their buyers into specific areas.
This is because for far too many years, white people were being shown houses in predominantely white areas, and Hispanic families were being "steered" to mainly Hispanic areas, and of course African American families were being assisted to buy houses in mostly black neighborhoods. I'm sure for the most part this wasn't done maliciously, but because people were genuinely asking their realtors to help them find houses in neighborhoods where they would feel most comfortable - but unfortunately, what happened looked exactly like racist housing practices.
So please don't think that we're in any way being unhelpful - we're all just trying to follow the law! What works best is to give our buyers the best tools to discover the best areas themselves; sometimes that involves coming to the area for a couple of weekends and driving around with your Realtor so that you can get a look at some different neighborhoods and see some areas that you like.
I've also included some websites below where you can go to find out some demographic information on different neighborhoods, including Birdsboro - the first & second websites should be able to give you statistics on population demographics in Birdsboro and basic Berks County data etc.
The third website is one that reviews the Public Schools in Berks County, and you can check out any Public School district in Berks County there.
The final website is from the Berks County Web, and further down the page it has all the links to the Berks County Government website, the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce, etc. If you're seriously considering relocating to a new part of Pennsylvania, I would strongly urge you to look at some of the information on the web, talk to a realtor, come out and visit a few neighborhoods with your realtor to get a "feel" for areas you might like, BEFORE you decide on houses you want to see. Nothing's worse than buying a house and then finding out a year down the road that you hate the community and that you REALLY wanted to live in a different area!
I hope this has all been of some assistance to you. Good luck!

Hi Shawree...As a Realtor I cannot comment on area as it is seen as stearing but I would suggest you go online an research Birdsboro and surrounding townships which would be, Union, Amity, and Exeter. The school District is Daniel Boone. You will be able to find the information you seek. Only you should decide where you want to live. My office is located in Berks Co. and have sold and listed homes in Daniel Boone SD. Please feel free to contact me if you need assistance.

Its a good idea to live wherever you feel comfortable.
You can live wherever your money will take you. By law, no one is allowed to steer you towards or away from any particular neighborhood. I could care less if you're black, white, pink or blue. As long as the money you use is green. You tell me what kind of home you are looking for and what towns or townships you want to be in and I'll show you what there is in that area meeting your criteria.
