We are hunting for house in metuchen and edison. Since we have a 3 years old daughter with special needs, we have to consider which school system provide the better services for special need kids. I know both town have good school system for regular kids though. Thanks.

Personally I'd say metuchen because the 3 schools in Metuchen in the past 5 years have been upgraded and remodeled to the tune of some where around $80,000,000.00 Also Metuchen is a fantastic town, being far smaller than say Edison it provides a great home town feel.

My wife and mother both do work with special needs kids in a number of districts in Middlesex County. As you noted, both Metuchen and Edison have great reputations. In recent years, due to its size, Edison has been able to provide excellent services for the special needs population.

Feel free to contact me for more information. My wife may be able to give you some additional guidance (she is a child psychologist).

By law, all towns need to provide for children with special needs and as early as 3 years of age. Metuchen has a wonderful pre-K program for children with special needs . The program has been recognized as an excellent provider for children with special needs including autism. The child study team in Metuchen's school district makes every effort to provide the least restrictive enviroment for all children. Good luck with your search.
