Here's a link that shows the Alameda school district map http://www.alameda.k12.ca.us/school_map_08_09.pdf that delineates what areas are in what school districts.
Here's a link that shows similar school rankings and school API (academic performance index) scores for 2008
http://www.alameda.k12.ca.us/similar_school_rankings_and_api.htm
According to this link:
"Similar School Rankings and School API scores for 2008
The API reports include a similar schools rank. This information shows where a school ranks academically on a scale of 1-10, compared with 100 other schools with similar demographic characteristics. The similar schools ranks allow schools to look at their academic performance compared to other schools with some of the same opportunities and challenges.
The comparison of similar schools is required by the PSAA, Education Code Section 52056(a), and provides additional information about schools beyond that provided by APIs and statewide ranks. The PSAA also requires that similar school comparisons be based on specified demographic school characteristics.
Schools API scores are ranked separately within school type: elementary, middle, and high schools. For each of the three categories, schools' API scores are first sorted from lowest to highest statewide and then divided into ten equal groups (or deciles) ranked from lowest (one) to highest (ten). This first process produces the statewide ranks. A second process produces the similar schools ranks. "
Hope this helps you make a decision on where you would like to settle.

Hello Francie my two girls went to Edison elementry school, Lincoln middle school and are now in High school. We have been pretty pleased with the schools in general (my oldest just scored in the 95th percentile on the SAT test) although their funding is on the low side. Overall I think the quality of the teachers in the district is high. As for test scores for the Higher priced areas are higher. For grade schools this meens Bayfarm, Earhart, Edison and Franklin. A lot of this I think reflects demographics as opposed to the quality of the teachers and schools. If you come into Alameda I think you would be happy with the city. Feel free to look me up and I would be glad to talk to you in person about the city, schools etc.
Thanks and good luck
Troy
Hello Francie,
I was born and raised in Alameda, been a broker here for over 25 years and I also taught K-5 computers in the district for over 10 years. Although I feel that all of our schools are pretty good, the schools with the highest test scores are Edison, Otis Earhart, and Bay Farm School.. They are all K-5 schools. Edison and Otis are located on the east end of the city. Earhart and Bay Farm Schools are located on Harbor Bay Isle. Please contact me if you want more information. If you go the Home Page of my website, there is a link in which you can find out the test scores of all the schools. The most preferable middle school is Lincoln and high school is Alameda High. I personally attended Otis, Lincoln and Alameda High schools. I hope this has helped you and have a great week.
