Chris Black of Winged Foot Title is an excellent escrow agent - It is an attorney based title company, so you really get the best of both worlds. Attorney based escrow agent is really good idea when buying in this market with so many shortsales, foreclosures and other weird things going on.

His office and staff is really proactive (which is a plus) because as a lender I have been through so many transactions were the escrow agents do not disclose important information until you are sitting at the closing table - which mean it is usually too late to do anything about it or becomes costly if you have to move the closing date.

You can escrow funds at any bank. law institutuion, title company or 3rd party company. It depends on what you are escrowing. Is it for a real estate transaction? Is it for prepaid rent? If you are working with a real estate agent purchasing or selling a piece of real estate, your agent should be able to give you a recommendation. If you are selling By Owner or purchasing from a By Owner seller, without an agent, I would suggest you check with the local Better Business Bureau. You could also telephone a real estate attorney for a recommendation.
