Cockroaches will eat termites. Although it sounds crazy, I would try to infest the house with cockroaches. Let them have their fill, and then a few months later fumigate the house to kill everything.
This is a cheaper approach than fumigating right off the bat. Another method is to place old wood in piles throughout the house. This will draw the termites in from wherever they are hiding. You then collect the wood, light a bonfire, and you have made a big dent in the termite population.

The best way is to dig 12 inch holes around the house and then pour in termite killer chemicals. Some terminators can do this for maybe $500 dollars. Then, cover the whole house to fumigate the whole place. It works for say 5 to 10 years and they always come back later. This is why insects will always rule the world.
