Totally agree with Best Answer that it depends on your lifestyle/habits. My 2800+ sq foot home on 9211 Riddlewood Lane in Houston has a very low electric bill (even less than $100 bill at times!) when I don't have houseguests....I think it's well insulated because it's a brick, single story home with a great deal of shrubs/flowering trees/landscaping.... my neighbor has a very similar home and tells me that her bills are triple mine though....

Really? How old is it and how energy efficiant is it.?..the house I am looking at is 2004 and double pained windows...I think it is a requirement to make newer homes more energy efficient now..oh and do you have kids or just you and your husband...

i live in 2700sq and my bill in the summer is about 400-600, and other times about 300 upwards.

Thank you so much for all of the advice...I am very conservative...turn off lights after I leave a room, it is a 2 story but will probably not be upstairs to often...it was built in 2004 and it does have double pained windows. it is a foreclosure so I am not sure if we can get the previous electric bills from the person or not. I will check into that. We will not be home often except on the weekends...

The answer depends on the age of the home. All homes built after 2002 will have double pained windows which will help to reduce the electric bill. Expect to pay at least 12 cents per kw.

Unfortunately there's just no good way to tell. It can depend on how new or how old the house is. One story or two story, brick or wood, are you there all the time or gone all the time. How hot do you keep it in the winter and how cold in the summer. Do you like 30min hot showers. Do you wash clothes one shirt at a time or a huge load. Do you leave your lights on when you leave? I've seen bills for houses that size at $150/month and I've seen 1500sqft homes at $700-$800. Both these are really extremes, but goes to show you different peoples lifestyles. I know a lot of realtors ask to see avg bills and some people leave them out for buyers to see, but to me they really don't mean a thing as each family is very very different.

You might want to consider sourcing direct with the utlity companies and the other discount utility companies and compare the rates.
