Hi Janet,

There is no one tax rate by zipcode, it depends on the jurisdiction. As an example, in 78726 it ranges from 2.188 to 2.545 depending on the neighborhood. There are currently 45 homes for sale in this part of town, starting at $229K, and averaging just under $400K.

Some additional info for you following my initial answer:

78726 currently has 55 residential properties for sale. 3 lots (including 1 large tract of 12+ acres), 4 condos in Savannah Ridge (Canyon Creek), 3 duplexes (Versante Canyon – really more like townhomes), with the remainder being single family residential homes.

Canyon Creek – 29 homes priced from $230K to $440K, ranging in size from 2,230 to 4,148 SF. Relatively strong sellers market with the solds and pendings having median days on the market = 40 days.

Grandview Hills – 7 homes priced from $295K to $750K, ranging in size from 2,751 to 4,142 SF. Strong sellers market (with the exception of 1 horribly overpriced home) with the solds and pendings having median days on the market = 23 days. This neighborhood has a high end section in the northeast corner (homes priced well above $500K).

Laurel Canyon – 3 homes priced from $725K to $1.2M, ranging in size from 3,911 to 4,232 SF. Sales in this price range are very slow, with about 3 years of inventory on the market.

6 other homes available, 1 on Lake Travis (water front with boat dock in deep water cove) for $575K, and 2 others along Bullick Hollow, and 3 others along 620.

As Jeff said, there is no one rate per zip code. You can also look up a property's taxable value at http://www.traviscad.org or property tax payment records for Travis county at http://www.traviscountytax.org/showSearchMain.do
