A mere 2 ft.

It depends on area of town older homes have shorter ceiling height than new homes. However depends on buyer

10 ft ceilings make a property appear with more sq. footage than lower ceiling.

Many times some home owners will "float ceiling by cutting thru to attic much depends on structure of home.

I love single family homes and lower ceilings easier to maintain than homes with 40 ft. areas. Your heating cooling costs are less expensive.
