Hello Mrs. R.W.,
There are two ways on getting information on First Time Buyer Programs. The first one is finding an agent who is well versed in this area, but unfortunately not many are. They may state they are but in reality they are more then likely not so be careful.
The second method is for you to Google the city or cities you are interested in buying into. Then once on their site start looking for their City Department tab, and then look for the “Housing and Grant Division" or their "Housing Programs." Here you will find what the specific city is offering to any interested buyers who are seeking to buy into the city and who need some kind of assistance.
Please note that many cities at this time have no more funds, but some still do. So do not give up! And of course if you are a teacher or work in a specific industry there may be programs out there for you, and this is where you would need a very good agent to assist you.
Good luck!
