Familial status is actually a protected class by the Fair housing laws of this nation. With this being said Ann Arbor is a great city to raise a family, as are the surrounding townships and cities. As some others have stated a good first step would be talking to a local experienced Real Estate agent and going over the criteria and details that your family are looking for in a home. Then an agent can matching it with areas that can provide your needs and wants for the price and value that make financial sense for your family. As an long time local agent that grew up in Ann Arbor, I would be happy to assist you in meeting your goals and finding the right home for you and your family. Take care John

Good afternoon Klendes!

I’m sure you may already know this, being as you are from Ann Arbor. However, Ann Arbor is a phenomenal place to live! Extraordinary coffee shops, live music, and art galleries are all in the life of Down Town Ann Arbor. You would be happy to know your children may have the great experience of going through Ann Arbor Public Schools, which time after time again ranks in the top ten United States school systems. Ann Arbor also currently offers a variety of ranch, colonial, and several other architecture styles on the market under 200k! Below I have provide you with a link to school and other information regarding Ann Arbor.

Thank you and have a great day, Azia

It would be best for you to sit down with an agent and explore what is important to you. Do you like urban living, rural living, suburban, etc? Do you want a yard or no exterior maintenance? Is access to public transportation important? Can you see how families with children could have very different answers?
I don't think any agent who is honest can say what area is best for families with children. We can explore your interests, needs and preferences and then show you a variety of homes that fit your criteria.
I would be happy to help.

How large of a home are you looking for? If you need 2000sf or larger, to fit in your budget you might want to consider Pittsfield Twp. I'd also recommend Chelsea/Dexter and parts of Ypsilanti.

Give me a call if you'd like to discuss; 734-272-6612.

This is a question to pose to a realtor local to Ann Arbor. See link below for a good list to start from. If you are not pre-approved for a mortgage yet, you should look at doing so simultaneously, or even before speaking with the realtor. Reach out to me if you'd like assistance with this.
