As a rental property owner, I've had to deal with 5 day notices as well. It isn't necessarily a death knell. Many times, all that is needed is for the tenant to pay the rent up to current. I hope this helps.

Maybe you mean a "five day notice?" If so, to contest it you would prove that you paid the rent on time.
