I have seen the rates at about 5.5 this week as well. The main advantage to the VA is the lower down payment requirements. About 5.5% or so right now. You might be able to get 5% or so Monday.... end of month trading of Mortgage Backed Securities drove rates up a wee bit.
They were solid 5% a few days ago.... I closed one last month at 5%.
very choppy rates right now.
If you get competing offers.... make sure you get those offers on the same day!!
