what exactly does CTG mean as a status in the MLS?

Asked by Ned, Chicago, IL Thu Dec 31, 2009

i found a condo i really liked, only to find out it is under contract. the status on mls says contingent. my realtor says i can't go on a showing if it is under contract, are offers not accepted either? how do i find out what the contingency is or is that just the status that is used until everything is agreed upon and it closes?

CTG is short for Contingent... but Connect MLS (our local MLS) probably notes what type of contingency... for example it could read CTG-A/I (attorney / inspection)... or CTG-HS48 (house sale / 48 hour kick out).

It's up to the seller to determine if they want to continue showings during a contingency. Your Realtor can call their realtor who will happily tell them the circumstances of the contingency, and whether or not they'll allow any addtional showings.

Good luck.
