Vets and disabled vets do get preferential treatment in TX, not only for property taxes, but also with special financing programs set up to help with property purchase, rehab and repairs. "Discount" level varies from county to county. If you plan on looking in Harris County (that's basically Houston), go to http://www.hcad.org . For other areas, email or call me for pointers.
