Are you talking about making an offer and getting an accepted answer back?

There isn't any set time frame for responses. It is possible to make an offer and get an accepted response back the same day. It could be a day or two, or it could take weeks.

If you are looking at a short sale or foreclosure, that could be months before you receive an accepted offer.

Even if you had the cash on hand, you can't get the house in one day. It usually takes a bare minimum of three weeks if there are no inspections, no appraisals and no mortgage loans to deal with. The still needs to be a title search and tax certs to deal with. Perhaps even a U&O.
