It depends on the price range, but generally Cornelius is all desirable. Weatherstone in Cornelius has always been desired and consistent along with Oakhurst. Both neighborhoods have pools, wide and beautiful streets! You get a lot of house for the money!!

It all depends on the amenities you are looking for. The Peninsula is a great waterfront community that offers a lot to families. It includes a club house, pool, golf etc... It is also located in a great school district.Go to http://www.lakenormanwaterfrontrealestate.com and search all the homes in Cornelius.

If you are looking for waterfront homes, I like Bahia Bay because it is convenient to I-77 and Charlotte. The prices are also more reasonable because of small lot size. (Less grass to cut)

Cornelius is a great town to consider since it has some of the best public schools in the county along with brand new Hough High School. There are a number of nice communities but price range will determine your choices. For a more upscale home, I highly recommend The Peninsula and Jetton Park. This area boasts a Country Club, a Yacht Club, and Jetton Park. Jetton Park is a 105 acre waterfront park with a playground, a bike trail, walking/running trails, tennis, picnic area with grills, and views of Lake Norman. The schools that serve this area are Cornelius Elementary School, Bailey Middle School, and WA Hough High School. If you are still looking I would be happy to set up a website for you, for free, with options that would work for you.

What is your price range? There are some older, more established neighborhoods on the west side of the interstate such as The Peninsula and Magnolia Greens that I would recommend. I grew up in Cornelius and would recommend it to anyone. Please contact me directly for more information about the area or if you would like to see ANY home. I work for buyers at no cost to them.

Cornelius is a great place to live, with a nice downtown and Lake Norman nearby. There are over 300 homes http://goo.gl/2o9Xn and townhomes and condos http://goo.gl/5Dc7b with at least 1000 square feet that many households would find desirable. If you were a client, we would have detailed discussions about what would make one area of town or one community more desirable than another for you personally, then find high value homes that meet your needs and fit your finances. If you have a full time agent with a Masters degree in Planning with Finance and over two decades of experience, working for you, you will likely do better in negotiations. I'd be pleased to provide that service. ...and if you appreciate an answer, please give "thumbs up". For the most helpful answer, please say thanks with a "best answer" click.

Dear Home Buyer - I can't help you with your purchase but I will say that Cornelius is an excellent place to live. If we weren't so happy in the mountains of Western North Carolina, it would be my next pick! We have very good friends who live on Lake Norman and we visit frequently. As a matter of fact we are headed over tomorrow to spend New Year's with them!!

The area is beautiful. It has a mix of urban, suburban and rural - big city amenities with small town charm. Our friends have a daughter in middle school and one in elementary and they rave about the school system of Mecklenberg County.

Where ever you choose to buy make sure you do it with an REALTOR who is both knowledgeable of the market and a strong negotiator. I'll be more than happy to make a recommendation if that will help!

Best wishes and Happy New Year.

That's kind of a "loaded" questions as Cornelius and the Lake Norman area in general are quite desirable. When you say family oriented area, I think of communities with amenities such as pools and playgrounds.

Here are some you may like: Oakhurst, Weatherstone, Jetton Cove, The Peninsula (golf, water access), Crown Harbor (water access). Some others: Antiquity and Robins Park are currently building new homes.

Of course there are many other options but I hope this gives you some ideas. I would be happy to send you some homes for sale to view on the net that may fit your needs. Just let me know.

Sincerely,

Hi and Happy New Year
I moved to Cornelius from Central NY 16 years ago and still love this little town......I would suspect you have certain criteria for a neighborhood, and it is difficult to answer your question without them. I find certain communities are rated A by everyone I speak to, and other residents swear THEY love their community and no other. If you email me or phone me, I will research and get the best answers for you. Jo Z Lake Norman Realty
