Code violations can effect you when buying or selling property. The city can require you to correct any and all violations. It is important to ask when buying if all upgrades where done to code. You can check to see if permits were issued and check to see if any permits remain open on the property. Some cities require a re-occupancy certifiacte to check for violations, such as additions of apartments.
Code Violations are a number of items: Unpermitted improvements to a home or building structure, incorrect installations of electric or plumbing, incorrect or unallowable architectual improvements. Please see the link to Miami Dade Building Division for some information about code violations in your area. Thanks.
