scheduled revaluation in Hightstown - tax increases?

the townhouse, i am interested in buying, is currently assessed at $215K and the taxes are $11000/yr. while i could afford to pay the current taxes, my major concern is about the scheduled revaluation in Hightstown this year. if the same townhouse is re-assessed at $350K, assuming the same tax rate, the taxes would go as high as $18,000/yr. please advise if my understanding is correct. also what would be the impact of finishing the basement/laying a patio towards taxes. Thanks!

The townhouses is East Windsor do have higher taxes for some reason. I have a single family home in East Windsor with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and almost an acre of land and our taxes are only 8700. I asked the assesor when he came to our home if our taxes were going to shoot up and he said that since my home was only 7 years old that it would not be effected as much as the older homes. So find out how old the townhome is that you are looking to buy. My home is on the market for $339,900 and it is on a dead end street in a nice area of East Windsor. I don't know what you price range is but we are negatiable and with the lower taxes your monthly payments would be less. Check it our if you like MLS # 5474852 . Either way good luck with your house hunting!
