Grant Park. $400,000 to $500,000 for a house that will be big and located on decent land.

Ormewood Park. About the same, a little less.

Two good charter school offerings and easy, easy living for an airport commuter. Lots of smart parents with children of all ages, and, get this - a Zoo at Grant Park!

Those are the best neighborhoods Intown for you - the depth and breadth of the suburbs await you if not.

Lane,

Peachtree City, Fayetteville, and my wife would say Griffin since that is where she is from.

She turned out alright!

Powder Springs is a little farther away, but I lived there for a while and airport access is easy.

You may also consider areas that are close to Marta train service in the Atlanta area. The train can be fast during rush hour traffic and it takes you straight into the airport and you check bags right off the train stop.

You have many options! Best wishes and happy house hunting!

Lane,

I would definitely take a look at Tributary.
I live there myself and can tell you loads about it. I used to work at Tributary too.
The pricepoints range from less than 200K to 2 million. The home choices are varied in price and style.
The neighborhood is amazing for families, there are two full time activity directors. In additoin to that, the neighborhood has developed such a social infrastructure. I have never seen anything like it. I've lived in Atlanta for more than 17 years, I've never seen anything like it.

Call me and we can talk some more.

THERE ARE A LOT OF AREAS TO CHOOSE FROM, HOWEVER, WHAT WOULD SEEM TO MEET YOUR NEEDS BEST WOULD BE PEACHTREE CITY. iT IS A PLANNED DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY AND EVERYTHING YOU WOULD WANT, EXCEPT THE HOSPITAL, WHICH IS ABOUT 5 MINUTES AWAY, IS AVAILABLE BY GOLF CART ON MAINTAINED CART PATHS. THERE IS A WIDE VARITY IN HOME PRICES AND STYLES. YOU COULD ALSO LOOK AT TYRONE AND FAYETTEVILLE WHICH ARE ADJACENT TO PEACHTREE CITY. THEY ARE CLOSE TO THE INTERSTATE AND 15 TO 20 MINUTES FROM THE AIRPORT.
BEST OF LUCK

If I were you, I would look into Tributary. It's a wonderful community just 15 minutes drive from downtown Atlanta, but also only about 15 minutes from the airport. It's a "green" development with a lot of young families where you can get a lot for your money, as well as that "community" feel. I have sold several properties in that community and my buyers would tell you they are very happy there.

Lane,
You have several good options but a lot depends on your price range and eventual school requirements. If you go to the Georgia Dept. of Education website you can learn more about the schools. I work the East Cobb area a lot and it has the best schools in general . I can send you a list of homes very easily so that you can become more educated on what is out there. I also will share my commission with you at up to 1.5% of the sales price through our BUYER CASH BONUS program . I would appreciate the chance to interview to be your agent when you are ready to make that step.

Lane,

There are many locations that fit this description around Atlanta. I have many clients that either work at the airport or need easy access to it. A couple of areas for consideration are Peachtree City area and McDonough.

We work with many people relocating to the Atlanta area and would be happy to assist you.

All the Best,

Hi Lane -

My clients with kids tend to be driven by schools and family areas/neighborhoods. I place a ton of folks like you in the East Cobb area, Roswell, some areas of West Cobb and select parts of Fayette. Each has it's own characteristics - more info is needed to really drop a solid suggestion.

in addition to being a broker I'm also a certified appraiser so I have a pretty good grip on value trends and what areas are holding their own and what areas are taking a hit.....drop me an email and I'm happy to get deeper on this - thanks

Lane,
There are alot of great areas in and around Atlanta with easy access to the airport. We have a great interstate system making it easy to get to the airport from many different areas. The time of the day that your husband will be coming and going could be a factor given Atlanta traffic. A little more information would make it easier to answer your question such as price point, other interests, type of neighborhood you like, etc. An advance welcome to Atlanta.....I hope you will love it here.

Hi, Lane.

Just like every young couple, you'll want to maximize your investment by following some traditional real estate guidelines. Basically, you'll want to look for good schools, low crime rates, and reasonably stable property values.

Almost all of Coweta and most of Fayette Counties will fit these guidelines, and will give you super easy access to the airport as well. Most commutes from Newnan or Peachtree City are in the 30 minute range to the airport without putting you in the dreaded "glide path--think NOISE" of the air traffic.

Best of luck to you on your house hunting journey. By all means, let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you in your search.

Lane your best bet is going to be to get a buyer broker who can assist you with your purchase, usually you can get a buyer broker at no cost to you, they get paid by the listing agent at closing a fee advertised in the mls. This way you will have someone who can provide you with a list of properties that meet your search criteria and assist you through each step of the buying process. A buyer broker will be able to direct you to the neighborhoods you seek. . Good luck with your search.
