Ask your agent. They should be able to obtain this information from the listing agent. If the listing agent won't give this info, let that be a big red flag! Why? It means the listing agent either does not have the information themselves (so how can they negotiate the sale), or they are uncooperative.
Tax records also show who the original lien holder is. Your agent should be able to easily obtain that information. However, if the loan was sold to another lien holder, that may not show up on the tax records.
