A Realtor or as you put it a "regular" Real Estate agent should represent you, the consumer find a home that meets your needs and have the financing tailored to your budget. As a local Realtor I look for properties that fit my clients needs and assist them in in securing the necessary financing. Some of the properties may be preforeclosures, short sales, REO or properties that sellers really need to make a change in our current market.

My best recommendation for you is to find a Realtor who you are comfortable with and that will have your best interests at heart. Good luck.

FIRST ANSWER

Hello Irene,
Good question. You CAN and should always have your own representation in any type of real estate transaction. An agent can help you make sure you get the property in a safe and habitable condition. We check to see that all fines and liens on the property are paid before you take title. We can also help you negotiate a good price. The escrow process is not very different than any normal sale. Let me know if you would like more information.
