Hi Rachael,

Walkable towns close to countryside are quite a few in NJ, namely in the Central NJ area,

1. Lawrence
2. Hopewell , Pennington
3. Allentown NJ
4.Robbinsville
5.Cranbury

Thanks for all your fantastic answers and links. We move to the US this October so your answers are a great headstart for information.
Coming from the UK, I like the idea of walkable towns close to countryside. Goegraphically Flemington sounds a great place...now to just check out whether it's an affordable place! LoL.

Hi Rachael, I'm sending along a link to the recently released NJ Monthly ranking of High Schools - you'll see that Hunterdon Central is ranked in the top 100:
http://njmonthly.com/articles/towns_and_schools/highschoolra…

I'm also sending along a link to an "unofficial website" that has some good info and photos that will give you a feel for the community:
http://www.flemington-nj.com/

And finally, a link to the township website: http://www.historicflemington.com/

You'll find all styles of living in Flemington and a wide array of price points. When I think of Flemington I think of strong youth sports and activities and SHOPPING - great outlet center there. You've also got great access to highways.

Best,

Camille, the similarity in our answers was unintentional on my part. I think we were both typing our answers at the same time and you finished first! When I began my response, there were no other answers yet posted. Otherwise, I would not have repeated your sentiments. Thanks.

It's a great area. Schools are very highly rated. You have a choice between Flemington boro, which is a charming older town with many historic buildings, both residential and commercial. There is a "strollable" downtown with nice restaurants and boutiques. The surrounding township of Raritan has a nice mix of affordable single-family and townhouse developments, blended with larger-lot subdivisions with lovely views of actual working farms.

Year-round, Hunterdon County and the Flemington area offer enticing cultural and recreational opportunities.
A few examples: Balloon Festival, 4-H Fair, Turkey Trot, local wineries, farm markets, Liberty Village outlets, Round Valley reservior.

I would be happy to introduce you to the area and help you find a home. Please contact me!

Sincerely,
Johanna Wiseman

I relocated my family here almost 10 years and I can’t think of any other place I’d rather live. The schools are excellent and we have everything from fresh Jersey farm vegetables to the huge malls a few miles away. It’s the best combination of farm and suburbs if you ask me.
If you’re looking for more information or would like a relocation package just let me know I’m happy to help. Flemington is where my office is located and I reside myself. You can get more information on school reports, maps, county information and available housing all on my website http://www.justjerseyrealestate.com. Contact me anytime.
