Hi, I used to live in the town of New Castle and was curious about the trend myself. I suggest you contact the the Assessors office in the town of New Castle (914) 238-4722. Typically in NY State properties are taxed based on fair market value. Unfortunatley the values aren't revisited on a yearly basis so these figures are off alot of the time, especially in times like these. New Catle hasen't revisited the assessed values in a long time and have been discussing a way to to do so. Another factor is approval of proposed school spending budgets and other needs by the town. If they need to make up any losses the tax payers usually have to make up the difference.
