made an offer on a short sale. Was accepted two months ago. No progress report. Called the listing agent and she has refused to speak with us .

Call her broker tomorrow morning. Her broker should know that she is ignoring you, Her client!

Agents have "Agency Agreements" with their clients. The listing agent's fiduciary responsibility is to her client the homeowner. Your agent's responsibility is to you the buyer. If you have questions, you should be speaking to your agent only, not the listing agent. If your agent is giving you good service, then to go behind your agent's back and contact the listing agent directly is rude and unprofessional. That might be why the listing agent is not speaking with you.

If, however, your agent is not proving you with good service, then you would need to speak with the broker at that agency to resolve any issues that you may have with your agent.

Hi Lucylab,

I'm going to assume the Listing Agent 'refused' to talk to you because you are working with your own Realtor (representing you). If that is the case, have your Realtor call the Listing Agent and that should solve the problem. If it doesn't and the Listing Agent 'refuses' to talk to your Realtor, have your Realtor call the Listing Agent's Broker.

What do you mean "refused to speak" with you? Did she say she's not talking to you or you're just getting no response?

Short sales can take a lot of time, depending on the circumstances. Have you talked to you agent about this? They should be able to contact the listing agent and if not, contact their broker.

Accepted by the seller or the bank? Sounds to me like you are now waiting to get an answer from the bank on whether or not they accept your offer or will counter it. You really have to bring your patience with you when offering on a short sale property. The banks communicate with the agents on their terms and only when they want to. Also the seller has to work closly with the bank in getting the documents they request.

Short sales are closing faster these days but they can still take a long time. The average is around 3 months but it can definately take longer depending on a lot of things. I would talk to your agent and have them call the listing agent to find out what's going on.
