looking to by a second home

hi, i live in Baltimore Md. i am looking to get a second home,but i got 2 years before i retire ,but i would like to start looking now,but i like to see if i could get pre approve i heard they will not pull credit report i have good credit but i dont want people pulling my report, is it ture they wont pull it when just checking for pre approve. thank you rick

Cyndie said that very well...another thing to consider is that some lenders have varying requirements if this is a "second home" in regards to down payments and interest rates. And a second home that is a vacation home may have different rates and requirements than a second home that is an income producing rental. Good Luck.

There is a difference in pre-approval and pre-qualification.
If you want a pre-approval letter, they will need to pull a credit report. However, if you are just trying to find out what you qualify for based upon your income and debt or based on what you feel your income and debt will be when it is time for you to retire, that is something totally different. They will not need to verify anything, but will try to help you get some idea of what price range you should look in.
HOWEVER...the criteria can change for lenders and what you qualify for now...may not be the same when you are ready to look.
Don't be afraid to ask a lender for their help.
