thanks everyone,
we've decided Denver + surrounds
is too cool to rush in...we're renting
first, in Centennial, then buying,
hopefully a MUCH LARGER property
than 7 acres... we really like
Castle Rock, Castle Pines,
Happy Canyon area.
Roxborough Park and the
ridge area of Parker, too.
:)
Later!!!
I REALLY appreciate all
of your help and responses!

If the commute and space are your main requirements your best bet would be Brighton to the NE or Bennent to the east. Both have a good selection of homes on land.

I really like the area in Brighton because it is a growing area with lots of new commercial businesses, a beautiful medical center and the lovely Barr Lake State Park.

You have easy access to DIA (on 470) and Downtown Denver is not all that far away.

Good luck with your home search!

You may want to check out 1 Cantitoe Lane in Cherry Hills Village. Given your description on what your looking for, it may be a perfect fit. I've seen the property, and it's amazing!

I looked to see if I can email you privately, but didn't discover a way too.

If you'd like me to a search I'd be more than happy too, although I need more info on your search criteria.

I do strongly encourage you to find an expert in the areas you are interested. I'm in Colo Spgs and don't work the area(s) you are referring to.

I'd love to help and appreciate your interest but I don't want to waste your time either. Email me privately if you wish and we'll continue from there.

thanks again, walkers:
you've helped me check off an assignment with the well + water .pdf link
-- much appreciated.

I need, before I spend too much more time with scouting search, to find AREA MATCHes for my family...
- 7+ acres, with neighborhood / area the same
- 20 to 30 minute commute from NE Denver
- don't like over-the-hedge or edward scissorshands areas
- like the tightknit, conservative, familial 'cowboy community' feel, not hicktown

any suggestions???
oh, and thanks for your 'interview time' here as one of the 3 agents i'm checking out!

sincerely

I don't know the agents you mentioned but go with your gut on who will serve your needs best and I do recommend interviewing minimum 3 agents. Just like other professionals you want a fit because you will have a relationship with this person of great importance.

There are many considerations when buying acreage and your agent will advise you on those as related to the area you will be looking. Be sure to check on water rights:

This seems has been an issue in CO for the last few years.

Lastly, in Col Spgs I know there are many who home school. I'd suggest checking into that support network in the areas you will be looking to buy.

All the best,
Susan Walker

FIRST ANSWER
Coming from LA you will probably feel like you found a gold mine in terms of what your money can buy in CO. This is where my advice comes in. Don't assume something is a good deal because you couldn't buy it in LA for that price. It could still be overpriced for our market. I see a lot of west/east coast consumers make this mistake when relocating here. Find a buyers agent to represent you. You want someone who is well experienced and has integrity. Those agents are out there and you might have to go through 2 or 3 until you find the right one to represent you and your family in this major move and purchase. The good news is it is a buyers market here and it is a beautiful state to live in.
