Help the community by answering this question:

Someone who doesn't know Charlotte real estate wouldn't have told you about the ordinance Section 3-103 of the Charlotte municipal code which limits residents in the city of Charlotte to a maximum of 3 dogs or cats per residence. You can obtain a special permit from the city but unless you have one, I wouldn't hold your breath since these are horribly subjective. Plus you never know who your neighbors are going to be so its not wise if you're planning to move in without the property permtis. If your neighbors complain enough to Animal Control, AC can take your to court and either take your pets or force the sale of your home. As a fellow dog owner, I wouldn't want either situation.

As far as listing suggestions go, I would recommend checking out 1596 Clayton Ave and 2309 Cumberland Ave. Both have fenced yards however Clayton Ave is a corner lot (which may result in more barking). Cumberland Ave has the largest lot of any home for sale in Dilworth (1/3 acre), which is a huge plus when you want to toss the little ones out in the yard.

If you want to research the code further, you can either call animal control at 311 or visit http://www.municode.com/resources/gateway.asp?pid=19970&sid=33

Did you find a house for you & your dogs in Dilworth?

What kind of dogs?

The answers so far are fine- but they miss a critical point of your question- 6 dogs may be above the city zoning--they might try and call you a " border" or more specifically a complaining neighbor might cause trouble. You'll need to check the zoning there yourself, and be confident you can do this-- I'd call the Mecklenburg County zoning office at 704-336-3569. Once you are confident you can have 6, we can search for homes with fences, good yards and homes in your price range, or alternatively, great homes and yards that could be fenced. Call me at 704-351-1519 once you know. Hi Kerry,

I am glad to hear you are looking for a home in Dilworth, this is a great area to invest. It depends what your price range is of course. I work on a team and we currently have several investors who are working in the Dilworth area buying old homes and knocking them down and building beautiful new homes - which are in keeping with the area architecture. I would love to discuss your needs further and show you some of these beautiful homes. Please visit my website for my contact information: http://www.TeresaQuinan.com. I look forward to hearing from you, if you have not already found a realtor to work with. Take care and good luck.

Hi Kerry:

There are many homes for sale in Dilworth but not many of them have a lot of land per se. We might be able to find you a nice fenced corner lot that would accommodate your dogs. I did a quick search on the MLS and 73 properties are available in Dilworth so I would really need to pin down your needs in order to perform a more effective search for you. Homes range in price from the $200s to over $1.0M. Most of the homes are 0.2 acres, however, there were 5 homes with 0.3 to 0.45 acres. I would really need to know how much heater living area sq. ft. you are looking for and what you would like to spend so that I can really do a good job for you in searching for the right home. Give me a call or send me an e-mail so that we can talk further. My contact number is (704) 701-9206 and my email address is: trish@trishandkathy.com. Looking forward to speaking to you soon. I am available on Sunday should you wish to call me tomorrow.
