There are a number of communities in the Triangle area. Some are independent living or maintenance free while others offer on site healthcare and assisted living. Some do have club houses but none of them are as set up for activities as you would expect. It will also depend on now many bed/baths and what you want to spend. I am a designated SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist) and can email you more info

Hi Karen,

They are building some one story (Ranch) homes but to my knowledge it will not be geared towards the 55+ community but rather all age groups. It's called the Grove Park Collection (Regency @ Brier Creek) and they're supposed to start building later this year. The prices start in the 300s.
Brier Creek -Lennox has some townhomes that are in the low 300s and the builder is Standard Pacific. They have the main living area on the first floor (along w/ 2 bedrooms) and an additional bedroom on the second as well as a study. The average sq. footage is 2300. This one as well is not a 55+ community.
But certainly offers amenities that you might enjoy.
I hope this helps!

Regards,
Lizete

I've heard that Toll Brothers at Brier Creek is getting ready to offer a 55+ community - you might want to call over there.

Karen,

You must check out the Pinehurst area! I have lived there for nine years and it is the best area for anyone wishing to have the amenities of great golf and organized retirement activities. Do not get caught up in the congestion of the Raleigh area....when you could have six immaculate golf courses and a clubhouse steeped in history at Pinehurst. ....Ty Greene

Karen,
I would also consider the surrounding areas of Cary, Apex, Durham and even Chapel Hill. Ask for a SRES representative a Senoir Real Estate Specialist since we are trained and have developed lists of providers and all the information you would need as far as medical, entertainment and all the vendors that you might want or need. Glennaire (a senoir community in Raleigh) is nice but it depends on what you are looking for in a community. A local realtor in the Raleigh triangle area can help and if need be I can provide you with a referral to a local SRES representative to help you.
