i want to buy a house in celina that is sold at much bellow tax apparaisal. we love the house but the mortgage on it will be quite high because of the tax appraisal. is it realistic to hope that contesting tax appraisal will work? the most bizzar thing is that it has a huge backyard that has same value as the house. do you think there is a way to get rid of the backyard? maybe split it amongst the neighbors ;) that was a joke, but on a serious note PLEASE HELP!! ANY ADVICE WELCOME!!!!
Laura,
It has been a month and the deadline to protest has passed this week. Did you buy that home in Celina and protest the tax value with the HUD-1 closing statement?
When you buy a home for under the appraised value, you can bring your HUD statment in to the tax man and they should lower the tax appraisal to the price you paid.
I would definitely talk with your Realtor and the Tax office just to be sure.
