USDA eligible properties can be located by first checking out the rural areas marked in the USDA loan map. The rural loan map clearly marks the boundaries of the areas eligible for USDA financing. With almost 97% of the county's land mass being USDA eligible, you are bound to find a suitable residential property in a rural area near you.

Choose a Realtor tell them the area you are most interested in living, the basic must haves for the home and the love to haves and let the agent do the work for you! The homes that qualify are in designated areas so it is not the home but the location of the home that determines this. There have been areas added recently to the greater Greenwood area.

At http://eligibility.sc.egov.usda.gov/eligibility/welcomeAction.do instead of putting in an address, click on South Carolina on the map to the right of that area - or just directly click on http://eligibility.sc.egov.usda.gov/eligibility/eligibilityA… and it takes you to that same map. Click on Greenwood County (on the map or on the list to the right of the map) and you'll now see a map of Greenwood itself, with the Orange areas being ineligible areas. Some of the boundaries of the ineligible area are man made, like roads, etc. and then some of the others just seem to be an arbitrary line being drawn.

Hi Gemini - Certain "rural areas" qualify for USDA loans. To pull up properties only in these areas requires knowledge of the areas and the tools to be able to do a very detailed search. Your best bet is to contact a Realtor familiar with these areas to help you find what you're looking for.

Gemini you can pull area maps but to be sure you need to check the address. In my area it can be as restrictive as which side of the street the home located.
