There are "check lists" associated with home inspections. Most home inspectors should be willing to take the time to explain the process and provide you with information about the inspection prior to an inspection.

Have your agent provide you with several possibilities and contact them to have your questions answered directly.

Please take a look at my blog here on Trulia that is entitled, 'Home Inspection - What to Expect".....it gives you ideas on what to expect with the home inspection, and a general run through of the way an inspection is conducted.. Your home inspectorshould give you a detailed report, and will go through the house room by room. You can also google "home inspection checklist" and I know you will find a number of informative entries.
