We are about to put our house in Piscataway on the market ... For Sale By Owner. We live in the Matzel and Mumford Community of Maplehurst Farms right off river road (less then a quarter mile from 287) & 1 mile from Bound Brook Train Station (Raritan Valley Line). The home is a full brick front 4/5 bedroom, 2.5 bath Chesterfield model w/ a large 2 level deck & landscaping. It has about 3000 + square ft & almost every room is newly painted. If you think you may be interested in seeing the neighborhood and the house, please contact me at shree_gupta1@yahoo.com. I am the owner..... not a realtor.
Also, to get an idea of what our exact model house looks like (brick and all). Check out the matzel and mumford site. It is the first house displayed in the pics. http://www.mmhomes.com/?ref=Google_MM&gclid=COSJh82Kv5ICFQEf Thu Apr 3 2008, 07:25

Dear Don,
Thanks for the message. I know Warren, Green Brook and Berkeley Heights very well because I took my kids to Murray Hill Chinese School http://mhcs-nj.org/ every weekend, which based on Watchung Hills Regional High School. I also took my kids to slay when there is big snow at Top of the World in Green Brook. And I worked at Murray Hill Bell Labs near Berkeley Heights. As a matter of fact, I just went checked out this nice community there http://cnj.craigslist.org/rfs/522368236.html When I worked at Goldman Sachs, I had no problem commute thru Dunellen Train Station to NYC. Ever since then, Dunellen Train Station has been renovated, and weekend parking is free, and it is right next to Dunellen Police Station, I never had problem with my cars for all these years working at Wall St. I just saw this house at Craigslist, and that's kind of what we are looking for, but, unfortunatelly, it is sold. If you have any listing like that, please feel free to post hear, so that prospective buyers like us will be able to see it first ... Dr. Cheng,
Sounds Like you have done your research on Piscataway. If you are satisfied with the schools, then you will get more house for your oney then you will in Warrne, Green Brook, or Berkeley Heights. You are paying for these towns for their reputations as well as their proximity to NYC. If you need help with your house search, please feel free to contact me. Good Luck Wed Jan 16 2008, 08:59

I am looking to buy a new house at Piscataway near River Rd too. I went to the open house of River Heights near River Rd at Piscataway, but the model I wanted already sold at $650k as later I saw in the craigslist http://cnj.craigslist.org/rfs/526371229.html
From my understanding, River Rd area is very nice and has easy access to both Rutgers Univ, Golf course, and Johnson Park, after Rt 18 expansion complete soon, it will have very fast access to both NJ Turnpike, and Atlantic City where there will be 4 more casinos. I also consider the new house to be built right next to JFK Library and Senior Center because the brand new Piscataway YMCA Community Center will be there. I feel both new constructions would be good for us, especially, it is very close to blue ribbon schools in Piscataway. I did not see any model house there yet, and the price is about my range; I heard there will be 9 new houses there. I also went see some similar houses in Warren, and the comprable one River Heights asking about $799,900, but the counter one in 69 Sycamore Warren asking about $999,900. The houses are almost the same layout. I know someone made an offer and later chose the other one. I am comfortable with Piscataway school district because my oldest got admited to Rutgers Phamacy which admit 200 out of over 6000 applicants each year. His friend got admitted to Standford Univ, ranking about 20's at PHS, some I know went to Harvard Univ, Columbia Univ, Cornell Univ, ..., and many to Princeton Univ. If my son choose to go Rutgers Univ with scholarship, it would be very easy to commute if we bought a house at River Heights or another one next to JFK. If he decides to go to Princeton Univ, then we may have to save $200,000 for his tuition rather than moving to bigger home. I kind of wishing him to go to Rutgers for 4 years, and save money, then go to Princeton Univ for graduate school which normally have RA or TA stipend and tuition waiver. And may be come back to teach at Rutgers Univ. If he is good, he can become the President of Rutges Univ like his alumni at Piscataway High School. I grew up in Piscataway off River Road. River Road offers you some very distinctive homes including some that are river front. If you can live with the amount of traffic on the road, you can get a good home for the money there. Feel free to contact me for more specific information.

Not sure why you are asking. Are you concerned about the safety, noise, property values...? Like all busy roads, values are typically lower than a comparable home on a quiet side street (unless it is a mixed use commercial property).
