Hi Kimberly, the best opportunities in real estate for 1st time homebuyers are properties that require renovations in the central Brooklyn neighborhoods (Bed Stuy, Clinton Hill, Bushwick, Ocean Hill and Crown Heights) with the exception of Bushwick, the other properties contain some of the cities prime brownstone and limestone architecture.

Brooklyn as a whole has upside and sell through for the next ten years due to the City Hall's decision to make central north and northwest Brooklyn an annex of Manhattan. In addition, 60 of the last 100 motion pictures filmed in New York City have shot in Brooklyn's armories in the above neighborhoods I just mentioned, with the Brooklyn Navy Yard expanding its post production facility by 125,000 sq ft..

I would strongly suggest that you consider Bushwick along the J/Z train lines and Bedford Stuyvesant along the A/C train lines. Visit our web site and view some of the offerings we have. My firm specializes in the residential sales and leasing in the neighborhoods I just mentioned.

You can go to our web site and request to receive our monthly newseltter that apprises our customers on prevailing market conditions in those areas, as well as provide insight on proper evaluation of the housing stock in these neighborhoods.

Kimberely,

The answer is yes, as an example, my listing in Bushwick is two blocks from the "L" train and takes 20-25 minutes from the front door to Union Square, it takes me 30-35 minutes from Park Slope. I would suggest to consider proximity to transportation , shops, schools and grocery store.

Actually it is. I read an article that the prices dropped pretty dramatically in those areas and you could find some good deals.
