Yes you can, buti it will need some work. Also you can do an assumption of a existing Mortgage for that amount as well. You can contact me if you would like more information.

In Michigan you can purchase a Real Estate Owned (REO), bank owned house for $20,000 or less. At that price it will need some rehab to be livable.

I believe you Lynn! And while Wisconsin is certainly not for everyone (Nor Is NYC) There is nothing wrong wth the question. Being the uppity arrogant NYer that I am...would never make me feel the question was funny, everyone cannot afford a Millon Dollar home nor does everyone want one..and there is something to be said for having a yard and a decent grocery store.

Believe IT! There really ARE properties under $30,000 that are not the best, but with a little fixing, can really be decent homes in this area....and the neighborhoods are fine too!

Possible? In any state in the US. I did not say the house would be worth buying but there are homes you can buy that cheap in the 5 boroughs, foreclosed shells in hellish areas. And extremely distressed areas exist in almost every state Flint Michigan, Areas Upstate NY, Rural areas, many of these homes are abandoned and have severe problems. But be afraid, be very afraid.
