It really depends on types of permits which are open.

If you are buying a home with open permits please keep in mind that you may be responsible for finishing the work and getting the final approvals unless other arrangements were made with the seller. Typically once the work is completed and final inspections are completed and approved a copy is filed in the town and they may decide to reassess the house. It really depends on the type of work that was done. The best way to know for sure is to call the tax assessor & ask them.

Perhaps, but more importantly, be sure those permits are closed out prior to close so that they do not become a problem for you.

It's possible. If it's for adding square footage, such as a finished basement or addition, then it's much more likely than a bathroom remodel. Best to talk directly to the tax assessor.

depends what the permits are for. also if taxes are not in line with other similar homes you may be able to appeal the assessment value
