Southfield's millage rate is generally higher than surrounding communities (except Detroit). So, a house with the same Taxable value (most likely the same as SEV- State Equalized Value) will have higher property taxes in Southfield. Would estimate 10-25% higher than most other communities.

Southfield is over priced when one considers the demographic shift and the uprising ghetto element.

Our tax drate per $1,000 of value is higher than other communities, but services are high with excellent schools, police and fire response under 5 minutes. also they have done a great job of bringing assessment down so they are in line with current market values. You will find a lot of house for your money compared to other communities.
