Another thing to consider is whether or not the taxes carry any exemptions, which can include homeowner, senior, disabled vet and/or senior assessment freeze, or if the home is subject to an instant assessment if it is 2 years old or less.
Finally, you'll also want to see what the home's assessed value currently is; if this is a property bought at the peak, it is possible that post-purchase, you can protest the assessment to get it more in line with current values, and then the tax bill might go down...conversely, it can even be underassessed, and the taxes might rise post-purchase.
While there are basic ranges in which taxes fall in the counties that house Bolingbrook, ideally you'd want to check on each particular property to check for any of the above situations - a buyer's agent can assist you with this, or you can do the research yourself on line via the county's assessor and treasurer websites, and by calling Bolingbrook to check on the status of SSA or SAS.
Specific properties will have specific tax rates, as indicated. Bolingbrook has lower taxes than neighbors to the north Naperville, but higher or similar taxes than some of the neighboring towns of Lockport, Crest Hill and Joliet.
However, it has been fairly consistently awared in the top 100 places to live by Money magazine. See the link below. It has a lot to offer in newer and older home variety too.
If you need help finding a home or understanding taxes, I am very familiar with the area.

You can check with your local government center in Bolingbrook at the tax assessor's office as they have the tax records for all properties which is public information. Some municipalities have tax data on-line through their city's web site.
I hope this helps.
