how much do you pay per month to heat/cool a 2 story (about 3000 sq. ft.) house in Rio Rancho?

I recently relocated here and am looking to buy a house. In my previous home in Ca (2,000 sq. ft.) my heating bills were pretty high (January gas and electric averaged $500.). I would like to buy a larger house here but want to know if heating and cooling the house are going to cost as much as the mortgage on it.

Hi Maria,

Most of the newer homes are energy efficient compared to older homes. Here in Rio Rancho our heating and cooling cost is resonalble. My staff can get the utility costs with no problem of your home of interest. Email me at Mark.Wingert@ColdwellBankerLegacy.com and we will get the information.

Hi Maria –
It’s difficult to give you quote for this, but for a well built and insulated home, you bill would be substantially less than you had in CA. The weather here can dip below freezing in the winter and top out above 100 in the summer but these are the extremes. Winter days are normally sunny and mild, and summer nights cool down nicely (30 degree day to night swings are normal). Many times in the spring and fall, no climate control is needed.

We have a couple builders in town that will guaranty the efficiency of their homes so you know exactly want to expect. These homes may also be “Green Built” or “Energy Star” certified.

We have helped a couple buyers recently that are thrilled with their homes because of the quality and efficiency. Also… there are some great deals if you know where to look.

If we can help let me know - Tego

Hi Maria,
Thank you for asking a great question, especially in these difficult financial times! Your heating bill will be based not only on the size of your home, but on several factors including the the age of the home. For example, new homes are usually well insulated. Also, some homes have additional sources, such as a pellet stove to take some of the load from your heating bills. By the way, there are many ways to safely insulate and seal your home in the winter. If you would like, I will send you information on how to accomplish that.

Also, there are many, many homes on the market in Rio Rancho right now. I specialize in helping buyers find the right home for all of their needs. I would love to help you with your search, and I would respect your privacy if you would only like for me to send you information on some of the beautiful homes that are available right now.

Please feel free to contact me at any time!
